I remove chewing gum from commercial premises, entrances and public areas.
I’m Michael, and I clean everything from shopfronts to large commercial sites myself.
I travel across Perth from Mandurah to Joondalup, and further for larger jobs.
I use hot water to soften and melt the chewing gum away.
The heat helps it release without needing excessive pressure on the surface underneath.
It’s worth getting on top of gum before it builds up.
In my experience, people respect a clean area and less new gum gets left behind.
I’ll work with you to plan the clean around your customer flow and opening hours.
Night work is also available if that suits your business better.

For larger sites, I’ll come out for a free site visit.
Chewing gum removal starts at $250.

Chewing gum removal usually costs $10–15m², depending on how much gum there is.
The surrounding area is cleaned at the normal rate of $5m².
You only pay the higher rate for the area affected by gum.
There’s a $250 minimum per job.
Cleaning more than 250m²? I offer reduced rates for larger areas.
Small areas can be quoted from photos.
For larger sites, I’ll come out for a free site visit.
If your job needs night work or a second person to help manage pedestrian access,
I’ll include the additional cost in your quote.
For example, a 200m² area with gum on 25m² would be priced as shown below.
$10–15m²
$250 minimum
Areas affected by gum
25m² × $10–15m²
$250–375
175m² × $5m²

200m² combined
$1,125–1,250

I use hot water to soften and melt the chewing gum so it releases from the surface. The heat helps loosen gum that has stuck firmly in place, instead of relying on water pressure alone to force it off. That means I don’t need to use excessive pressure to dig the gum out, which can damage the surface underneath. The aim is to remove the gum while looking after the surface it’s stuck to.
Removing each piece of gum also cleans the surface directly underneath and around it. If I only clean those spots, you’re left with little clean patches while the dirt between them stays put. The gum may be gone, but the area can still look patchy.
That’s why I clean the area the gum is on as well, rather than leaving a scattering of clean dots across a dirty surface. Removing the gum deals with the stuck-on pieces; cleaning between those spots is what brings the rest of the area up with them.
Older gum can stain, and it can also protect the surface underneath while the exposed area around it weathers differently. When the gum comes off, that covered patch may look different from the surface beside it.
Those are different things from gum still being stuck to the surface. The gum itself can be removed, but a stain or a difference caused by weathering may still show after cleaning. Cleaning the area doesn’t necessarily remove those differences.
The before-and-after photos above show examples of the results, including how the surface looks once the gum has been removed.
I’ll work with you to plan the clean around your customer flow and opening hours. We can discuss when the area is in use, where people need to pass and whether cleaning during the day or at night would suit your business better.
One option is to have a second person on site to manage pedestrian access and signal when I need to pause cleaning. That gives me someone watching for people who need to get through while I’m concentrating on the clean.
Night work is also available if that better suits your business. If you need any of these arrangements, discuss them with me and I’ll include any additional costs in your quote.
Gum build-up can be hard to predict, so most customers call when the area needs cleaning again. A fixed schedule won’t always match how quickly it builds up. Calling when you start noticing an accumulation can be a more practical way to keep on top of it.
In my experience, keeping an area clean can help reduce new gum being left behind because people respect a clean space. It won’t guarantee that it stops, but it’s something I’ve noticed when maintaining an area over time.
