Perth Oil Stain Removal

BeforeAfter

I clean oil marks left by leaking cars on driveways and parking areas. From a few oil spots to a heavily stained driveway, I’m Michael and I do the work myself. I travel across Perth from Mandurah to Joondalup, and further for larger jobs.

I use industrial-strength degreasers and hot water to break down and lift the oil. Like washing greasy dishes, the heat helps shift oil more effectively than cold water alone.

Once oil has soaked into the surface, some marks will remain after cleaning. My before-and-after photos show the results, including the marks that remain.

I normally clean the surrounding area too, so you aren’t left with an obvious clean patch where the oil was treated.

Questions about oil stain removal

What should I do about a fresh oil spill?

Cover the oil with kitty litter to soak up as much as possible. Sand can also help, but kitty litter is preferable. Don’t hose it down, as that spreads the oil over a larger area.

The sooner the oil is cleaned up, the better the chance of removing it before it soaks further into the surface. Fresh spills may leave less staining than oil that has been there for a long time, so it’s worth getting in touch promptly. Send me a photo of the area and I can give you a quote.

How do you remove oil stains?

I use industrial-strength degreasers and hot water to break down and lift the oil. It’s similar to washing greasy dishes: hot water and detergent help shift the oil more effectively than cold water alone. The treatment and heat work together to clean the affected surface.

Removing the oil doesn’t necessarily remove all the staining it has left behind. Once oil has soaked into the surface, some marks will remain after cleaning.

Will the oil marks disappear completely?

Oil can leave staining once it has soaked into the surface. How much remains depends on the colour of the oil and how long it has been there. Dark oil can leave more noticeable marks than lighter oil, and the longer it has been left, the harder the staining generally is to remove.

Fresh spills may leave less staining, but I don’t promise that every mark will disappear. My before-and-after photos show the actual results, including the staining that remains, so you can see what to expect.

Why clean the surrounding area too?

Treating an oil mark also cleans the surface around it. If I only clean that spot, it can leave a very clean patch against the rest of the driveway. I normally clean the surrounding area as well so the treated patch doesn’t stand out against a dirty surface.

For a driveway clean, I measure the whole driveway. Oil treatment is an additional cost on top of the normal area-cleaning rate, with the total confirmed in your quote.
